TMBAP’s 2024 Webinar highlights the archival history of the Bowen Center, originally founded as the Georgetown University Family Center. Dr. Murray Bowen and early faculty founded the Georgetown Family Center in 1975 on principles central to his theory – particularly Differentiation of Self, guiding him as the leader. The Family Center functioned as a central laboratory for engaging people and ideas as well as training professionals and lay audiences.
As the organization, now known as the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, moves to its next iteration, the project becomes all the more important. Ms. Amie Post and others at the Bowen Center have been working to organize and understand the collections as they develop principles that will guide preservation and access to this piece of the archival “quilt.”
Each piece of the Murray Bowen Archives quilt contributes something unique to the whole.
